Yesterday, i found one of my very old friend online on Gmail. We were used to study together during my school days ( till class 10th). During the conversation, she suddenly said , do you remember how little we used to talk. I replied back that , we do not have mobiles that time. otherwise we could have played SMS-SMS, missed calls and other stupid games. At that moment i realised the giant leap which India has taken in last 10 years. I bet if we rewind the clocks down the years you will almost feel that it was altogether a different world 10 years ago in India.

Although, i am not old enough to write a memoir, but this decade has been a real fast forward. 1999-2000 was a different ball game altogether. Although , a new millennium was round the corner, cell phones were still a luxury ( now every rickshaw wala has one in the pocket..), bikes started to dominate the scooter market, dot com bubble was still inflating and India had started to shine..So, then what does this decade stand for !!

This decade in my view stands for the expression. The expression of youths , their wish to announce them on the world’s stage has completely change the face of the nation. Their energy has propelled india from the category of developing country to the emerging nations. Increasing employment opportunities , good quality of education led by IITs and IIMs , and an liberalising culture had made the youth confident to take on the world. Now they do not doubt their capabilities, neither they consider themselves inferior to anyone.

Apart from that, this was the decade of me , you and all of us. Independent and yet interconnected!!.. we have facebooks to share our emotions, orkut to be interconnected and last but the most powerful tool in the pocket, the ubiquitous cell phone. I got my first cell phone in my 2nd year of college, joined orkut in 2006 and ventured into facebook few months ago, and i feel that how come i was alive without them. Malls and PVR’s are the talk of the town and if i will tell my mom that i spent 200 bucks for a movie that it would be a nice 3o minutes “Gyan Session”. This power of youth and interconnectivity was even saluted by Time magazine while declaring the personality of year in 2006 ( It was “You” ). The independent and ambitious girls had finally started to rub their shoulders against the males ( and some beating them also !!!..).

But there is also fillip side of it also. Life has become easy and relations had become very complex. Now relations start on mail, flourish on mobile and end on facebook. The human touch is so missing !!!. We as a generation is so busy in calculations … what is my career growth, how much i should earn, which job i should switch too.. . so, the relationships always take the back seat. We are so afraid of responsibilities. Everyone will champion the case of live-in but very handful will be willing to commit and be responsible. We could be chatting online for hours but doesn’t even care to move to the next room to have some chat. Every thing is so ‘e’ in nature but still human beings start from “h”. We still have the same organs as we have earlier , the same heart not a microchip.

We are fortunate to be in a country ,which despite all its deficiencies , practice democracy and freedom of speech. The power of expression had propelled us in a new era, but as the old cliché goes ”with great power comes the great responsibilities”. Today’s youth have to be responsible so that they can help india getting its judicious picture in the world scene !!

Travelling is one of my best pass time and this time i explored north western UP and Uttaranchal. Actually my sister studies in IIT Roorkee , and this was big enough a excuse for me to have a trip of arguably the oldest technical university in india. So, for a weekend i did the planning and get my tickets booked.

The start of the journey was more of a anti-climax. My train was at 6:43 morning and me moron wake up at 7:30 AM. For first time in my life , i missed a train sleeping. Now the next train was at 12:10 pm , so there was ample time for me to catch sleep for couple of more hours. So, i reached the ghaziabad stationaround 11:30 , parked my bike in the stand, purchased an unreserved ticket and reached the platform.

The train came exactly on time. a pleasant surprise from indian railways. But soon the joy was over, the train was highly crowded, with lots of gujrati families ( Train was actuallu coming from there). After struggling for half an hour , i managed to get a seat ( although just enough to support your hunches !!!) . Train had picked the speed , and soon i am in a outstandingly green land scape. For a long time i hadn’t seen a landscape like that. Maize, Rice, Wheat almost each crop was there , but the standout was the sugar cane. The sugar canes field was really fascinating and perhaps they are the single most forcing factor for me to write this blog.

After some time, the gujrati uncle enquired that these places do not have big buildings as in gujrat and maharashtra. I said, uncle see at these fields. They are the real gold, or you can say the green gold. May be this place is not that developed but the natural resources are abundant here. A local person sitting next to me said that , the belt of muzzaffarnagar , saharanpur is among the best fertile land in india. Here , anything you plant will grow, but the standout is sugarcane. You can find a sugar mill in every alternate house of this area.

Soon after, the train entered uttarakhand, erstwhile part of western uttar pradesh. Here again , the green fields welcomed me. After 3.5 hrs i deboarded the train at Roorkee station. If you are coming from cities like delhi , ghaziabad and other big cities, roorkee seems to be a sleeping beauty. 10-15 souls moving on the station, clean platforms, in all a small and serene station. Sensing a student, all rickshaw walas started shouting for IIT Roorkee, and after a round of negotiations , i was on my way to the oldest varsity in northern india.

In between , I crossed ganga canal. Made by sir cautley in 1843 , it was a engineering marvel and still considered as one of the best man made construction in india. So significant was the contribution of sir cautley, that IIT had honured him by naming a hostel after him ( The biggest boys hostel is cautley bhavan). Soon , i entered IIT and its like coming to a town from another time. The area span of IIT is huge, and to see all the places , you definitely need a bicycle. The legendery bulidings, lush green playgrounds and state -of-art infrastructure give it a royal look.

I had a day to spend there, and i made the most use of it, by exploring all the prominient buildings of the institute. A legendary institute, with a rich history, i was really priveleged to be there seeing all that. I interacted with few M tech and MBA students over there, and there simplicty was the most affable thing about them.

Next day i returned by shatabdi ( whose story i will narrate later). It was a awesome expirience, and i readily enjoyed it, and as announced in the shatabdi express , i promise to come back soon !!!!

Last weekend, amidst the hectic schedule of the B-School , i got a chance to sneak to my home.Going after 1.5 months ( Believe me It’s a long time for distance less that 200 Kms!! ) i was craving for food and all other luxuries of home ( Getting Tea on the Bed !! ). After Reaching home , greeting parents and sipping tea i headed direct to bed . Well !! its been long time sleeping on a clean and well made bed !!!.

Mummy wake me in afternoon for lunch , and though reluctantly, i relinquished my ordeal in the dreamworld. Rubbing eyes , i switched on the TV ( another luxury if you live in hostel). Still it was 1:30 , so good 2 hours before the last Ashes match to start . I was just sifting channels when i saw a ice hokey match somewhere. It was HBO and some movie on ice hockey was being aired at that time. Out of curiosity , i started watching the movie, The name of the movie was Miracle ( Usually Known as Miracle on ice ). The plot was nicely woven amidst the tensions of cold war in 1980′s and the reign of USSR in Ice Hockey.

Let us travel back in time. The year is 1980, winter Olympics being held at Lake Placid, USA. USSR the reigning champions , who had won gold medal every Olympic since 1956 barring 1960 ( USA won that year). The coach of USA is herb brookes , a player who was part of the squad in 1960 but was sent back ( Any Body Remembering Chak de India !!) . But Above all , USSR Team was all seasoned professionals and USA Team was picked from college, all young teenagers.

Add the spice of Cold war Tension , and this becomes one helluva match ( Parallels can be drawn to India-Pak Matches). This is the story about how a charismatic coach motivate his team of young budding players to take on might y soviets and defeating them in the medal Round. That was termed as Miracle on Ice, and is rated as the best sporting moment in the US history. It was not just a hockey match, it was a game of identity, hope and passion. This was the game where loosing was not a option.

Movie Really gave me goosebumps, and as soon as i returned to the campus, i googled all the possible links. saw many videos in Youtube and today downloaded the movie from DC++.

Meanwhile, England Reclaimed the Ashes , was not really a miracle , but still a famous and well deserved victory. It was the Andrew strauss tryst with glory , many english captains die with this dream !!. Also, liverpool is making a sinusoidal curve with its performance , recently being defeated by Aston Villa in Anfield. but miracles do happen.

Not very surprisingly, with the advent of science and technology , we are loosing our power of belief. Now we do not believe any thing which can’t be proved and justified. Miracles are one of them, yes they do happen , but then you have to believe that they happen. It does not mean that you stop working and wait for a miracle to happen. Work with best of your abilities, and then leave the rest to the almighty. What is a miracle ? a moment of luck , a unseen opportunity , something which gives us a thrust can termed as a miracle. Our body is the biggest miracle, with so many organs working in tandem , our DNA chains that are not replicated yet with the best of technologies, our brain which is still largely a black box. Our mere existence is a miracle, and who says miracles do not happen!!!. Just see the world holistically and you will see miracle every where.

So, from now onwards believe in miracles, but be in position to take the advantage of them. Also, try to get hold of the movie, can lift your spirits any time ( Guess Seen it before Football and basketball Debacle !!). And, for Liverpool, Yes i believe in miracle, this year create a miracle on grass !!

15th August, 62nd aniversary of our nations tryst with destiny, has finally compelled me to write something after a long time . Gallons of water has flown under the bridge since the last time i had written something, and it was primarily due to my knack of sleeping at almost any opportunity and also my laptop deserted me for few days !!!!.

A wet, drizzling morning welcomed us on the independence day. Although waking at 9 am on a holiday is crime , but today it was for the nation. This is one day, when we show our grattitude, our solidarity and pay tribute to the martyrs who ensured that we are breathing in a free air today. The program organised by the college was sweet and simple following the principle of KISS ( Keep it Simple and short ). Dances were good and skit was awesome. The program aptly ended by distribution of clothes and bookd to the blue collared employees, which shows our committment towards the welfare of society in general.

I firmly believe that the ultimate purpose of the education is to uplift the society. Though the short term goals may be, creating a knowledge base and a skilled workforce , but education should fulfill the purpose of changing the face of the soceity by developing it. I was impressed by the book distribution as it would help them in long run. There is a famous adage ” You give fish to man you feed him for a day, you teach him fishing you feed him for the life time “

Swine Flu after having its honeymoon in US and Europe finally travelled to India. Rather than being proactive we first waited for it to create some news and then act . There was a false belief that it would not affect the people of india, which was proven wrong by the rising cases and death tolls in the country. The peculiar thing about the disease is that it affects the young and schoolgoing children , which have more immunity than the compartively old people. Being a highly conatgious disease , it has a potential of becoming a pandemic, and thus causing lot of panic . Yesterday we saw people roaming with masks in a mall ( although they scared us) and also shows of movie ” Kaminey” were postponed in Mumbai nad Pune.

coming to the movie, after reading good reviews we watched it yesterday. Well, this is not certainly for the mango people ( Aam Aadmi). Although a notch below Omkara, Vishal Bhardwaj Direction is wonderful on not so a great script. Shahid kapoor is improving as an actor but the priyanka’s performance was really heart warming ( Now she can act Finally !! ) . But the real stars of the movie are the characters whom the director allowed to develop.whether it is a flawless bhau !! , or corrupt cops supplying cocaine to the underworld, or a Lipsy protaganist , everybody had done justice to their roles. Watch it if you wanna see some artistic cinema , else take a stroll in mall, coz it could also be painful to watch .

Last but not the least, i am exploring the new ways of life in MBA. I was told before coming to IMT, that you have to study a lot in a MBA college. You have to live life on edge. He was partially true, life is certainly on edge here. within 24 hours i had played cicket , table tennis , counter strike and basket ball. The only thing missing is studies which i hope to do someday ( I promised to study regularly after the mid terms !!!!) . Now , the gravitational forces of my bed started to pull me towards itself and i am again retiring to the dreamworld, so till next time , bis bald , guten tag ( i also learning german too !!)

Wait !! Before going further, i wanna make clear that i am not competing with Rediffs and Yahoos for writing a movie review , the things further are just my perception ( OB Lingo ). After a long time, i got the chance to lay my hands on a hindi movie. The Promos of movie was very much visible from quite a considerable time in mess and other places, i must say that media had reached to new heights, so after a overloaded friday schedule with lectures and quizzes, we decided to go for the movie.

I must confess, that my expectations from the movie was not very high. Although, Saif had acted in solo fims recently but he still lacks that karisma !! and deepika , with all the prettiness in the world, is still a novice in acting. So, we reached the theatre around 10 in night, the crowd was typical ghaziabad crowd ( A bit of aaberration if you got accustomed to see the PVR Crowds). They even shouted and danced during the movie show ( which i secretly enjoyed !!! ).

We live in a rational world or to phrase it better we try our best to live in a rational world. Our mind always try to have control over our heart, but the truth is that we all are irrational. Something which seems so trivial to others, seems amusing to us . ( Personality Traits : Again a OB gyaan ). In today’s era, we laugh off the word ‘Love’ ,but in the deep down everybody vouches for it. We say that life moves on, and affairs and breakups are as trivial as eating food everydaym but why it is so that one special person , one special moment always come to haunt you when you least expect it , at worst of the times. How many times, you scroll a number in a phone book and then cut the call. With all the rationality in the world, the governing laws of the world are irrational , we just give rational names to them. The more rational a person try to become, the more he is governed by the irrational forces. The rational is what you think right, and the irrational is what you want to do.

So, why there is mismatch in both , its because with all the development science has done, it sucked out the humane part of the society. Now nobody has the time for real emotions ( Instead we have smileys) , orkut and gtalk substituted the human conversation. We were being so overloaded with the information technology that we now dont even care for that. What does a scrap or an SMS mean to you ?? just close your eye , visualize a scene of 1980s in sepian tint ( a bit ‘bollywood-esque’), no phones , no mobiles, no internet, the only thing available is a letter which comes after a month. Can u imagine the worth of that letter, it is worth gold !!!!. The overload of information , makes us taking things for granted, and this is a cause for all problems.

Alas !! we cant make a electrical circuit and replace a human body with it . Our emotions are still the same as from the time immemorial. The only thing is that we live in a state of denial. If we start getting attracted toward some one , we say how is it possible. We can write 100 lines of codes, give presentation day in and out, but struggle to find words when we have to say ” i miss you or i care for you or i love you “. Because we are too rational, we dont want to show our emotions , our feelings ( which we consider our weakness to anybody). This state of denial , make us reject even the most obvious thing in fron of us. We have to come out of it, life is very simple, it should remain so !!! , why are we making our lives unneccesarily complex.

So if you had loved some one in your life, if you had done irrational things, if you had followed your heart over your brain at times, go for ‘Love Aaj Kal ‘ . Cos, no matter its past , present or tomorrow, loves remain the same or say human feelings remain the same. The movie may not be the best made by the director, but it surely give a shot of the present day dilemma prevailing in the world. There must be chaos to settle the things down, so o and enoy the chaos !!!!

There are few moments in life which you always cherish for the lifetime, and the college certainly gives us a few of those. Last few days had been wonderful for the batch A2 in this case. It all started with, putting 60, almost strangers in a class making a perfect recipe for the chaos. There were a few known faces from the PDP and the outbound training program, but majority of class still like blank faces for me. Then suddenly in the heat of moment, i raised my hand in the class on some issue, and without understanding the gravity of the situation ( a placecom favourite !!) i become the CR of A2 ( many people still compare with hindi ‘siyaar’ )…

But looking back now, i think that it was one of the good decisions of my life. I got the opportunity to interact with almost everyone in the class. I really appreciate people for bearing the “short term memory ” of mine. Initially i struggled hard to remember the name and the faces. Prakhar was varun to me,srijit was sminesh, and till today in the morning cricket match , i called siddhartha as sandeep umpteen number of times ( sorry sid )..

But guys apart from the woeful memory of mine, it also has a reason. You tend to remember a person when you associate a memory with them. And now that sequence has been started. When i think of football, rahul bhat is the name on toungue. sandeep is the unparalleled Organisor of the class, rajeev is carrying forward the legacy of michael jackson, swapnil is just another name for fun , mohsin is blessed with wonderful acting skills and my dear pabby , a real punjabi handsome dude. Everyone of you, have a special quality which i really adore and if i happen to learn a single thing from all of you,, i would definitely be a imroved person.

But the real fun quotient kick-started with the e-cell event of the college. Though we lost the event by a narrow margin, but we for the first time acted as a class. Apart from the 11 organising members of the event, whole class contributed in one way or the another. It was for the first time that complete class came on the same platform and then there come the big dhamaka of the Party night at Amphi. Although the stories of me, sahil and rajeev are the part of the folkfore now , but i enjoyed each and every moment of that. Believe me , wine was only half of the actor, it was the presence of the A2 junta that had made the environment so intoxiacating. Those meaningless slogans, those running and falling, those weired dances now seems to be very foolish but those are the moments which initiate a bond between a person.

We in our normal life always behave like a good person ( Nitesh’s id, ego, superego concept wonderfully holds here ), but in the moments like these we are at our true self. we all are flawed, each one having one or another. And a real bond develops when you accept the person with his flaws. When you are ready to show your flaw to him/her. These bonds are the base of trust between the people, the feeling of unity, the feeling of togetherness. We may like someone, had some differences with someone, but we cosider ourselves as one unit , one class .

And i had started witnessing the signs of it. Those extended sessions in mess, people discussing all of things at 2pm in amphi, playing badminton at 2 am in morning and then relaxing in DLP. The initial boundaries are breaking and the bridges are being made. Now every one is becoming more comfortable in the presence of another. I hope that this process will continue, we will get many more moments to cherish and i hope, no i firmly believe that our batch will rock the IMT !!!!!

Once There was a boy, for whom the happiness was coming back to home from school, sleeping for an hour or two, playing cricket with friends in the evening, and then some study in the night. This seemed to be the complete world to him. Every Day he readily dress up to go school, take his bicycle ( which was equivalent to mercedes-benz for him) and enjoy whatever he does. Hi did not knew the meaning of Happiness, but i guess he was happy.

But the world does not remain same. Slowly He reached to 1oth class, when suddenly his parents told him , that for being a successful and happy person, you need to be either a doctor or engineer from a very good institute. This was a major shock to him, Because he thought that he was very Happy in his life. Since, he was not matured enough at that time, so his parents took the decision for him. He joined IIT JEE coaching and started preparing for one of the most competetive exam in the world. One thing , which the boy possessed was the determination and commitment towards his work. He put all of his effort in the competitive exams, without even caring for his happiness, as he thought that he would be reaping the rewards in the future.

His efforts landed him in one of very good engineering colleges of India. Being a avid movie watcher, his perception about the college is that it’s a place where boys and girls roam around , singing songs and bunking classes. He thought that he would be happy , after going to the college. But, as soon he entered the college, his perception changed completely. He was told that you have to perform better in the academics and the extra curriculars to get the best placement from the college, which will make him happy in the future ( anyways the sex ration in the college was very poor to sing songs and dance ).

So, he started slogging in studies, taking part in the extra-curriculars , but the happiness was not there. Then he found some very good friends out there, with whom he enjoyed some of the best moments of his life, and they have nothing to do with the academics and the extra-curriculars. The nights on the terrace, with talking to friends about each and every topic under the sun. The birthday bumps, the colorful parties, the innovative cricket in the morning hours kept himslef very happy. He wanted the world to be like that only, but no body could ever compete with Mr Time !!!!!

Soon, the placement scene started, and again the buzz in the air was that, you have to be in one of the company offering high compensation to be happy. He also followed the suit, slogged hard with his aptitude and C-Programming Books, and finally made through one of the good companies in the campus.

He thought that by earning money, he would become happy. He could buy anything he wants and enjoy, but alas!! he forgot one thing, the happiness could not be bought. Initially, he felt very lonely due to absence of friends and a new city. Slowly . his life became routine, going to office, doing some work which he never find enjoyable . There were times, when there was 5000 Rs in pocket but nobdy with him to spent with ( In College 50 Rs meant a grand party ). But Again slowly he started making friends, got couple of very good friends, and he again started enjoying the Life. Seeing the cricket and soccer matches together, having beer and then singing songs passionately, long drives in the night forgetting all the world. Now , this seemed to be Happiness to him.

But then, The C-bug bitten him. He , donno from where, got an impression that for living a happy Life, you should be an MBA. He again started studying, giving tests on every Sunday, Slogged day in and day out. Even Faked answers in the interviews, and finally landed in one of the reputed colleges of India.

He imagined that things would be happier for him now, as he was chasing the happiness for a long time now. But after coming here, he got introduced to a completely different world. People not sleeping in the nights, girls talking in English even if there is no requirement for that, flurry of interviews and group discussions, and last but not the least, assignments and quizzes in the class. He was told that this is the life style of MBA. You would always have to be on your toe. But something inside him did not agreed. He felt himself becoming a Robot. The Hectic life style, do not allow him to feel anything. He just keep running after one thing or another, He , till now, do not know much about his room partner. There are no times for chit-chats, no talks while having tea, nothing like roaming around in the campus without any purpose.

So now he wonders, that what is exactly happiness in life. Is it a mirage, which you always try but never able to find or is it something which we fail to identify. The Success and happiness are one of the most overused terms in the current world but there are no strict definitions for it. We often attached happiness to some point in life, that whenever i reach there , i would be happy. But Happiness is much easier to get. Have you seen a baby sleeping, a child playing, a singer singing those are the moments of happiness. You do not need to be Bill Gates to be happy. So, do whatever you aspire in life, set your aspirations high, but always be happy, because it is something which nobody can ever snatch from You. This is the grace of god and he want us to be happy !!!!

So , Please be happy in whatever circumstances you are in, meanwhile let that boy figure out, where this journey of happiness will land him in future !!!

Hi Friends, i got first prize in a write up for a social service club at IMT Ghaziabad. So, Thought of Sharing the same article with you all.

The Photograph which won the Pulitzer Price was of a small kid, suffering of hunger and malnutrition crawling towards the food , and a vulture waiting behind him, waiting for him to die. Although the Photographer died due to the depression, but he had captured the gory reality of hunger and malnutrition in one of the most heart touching way.

We are reaching new heights day by day, but are we really growing as a human being !! In fact with the advance in technology we are losing touch of humanity which is the soul of our existence. In the world where the economies are in size of trillions, we are not even competent enough to provide food for the infants of our world. Where the parties galore with the sumptuous dishes, some unfortunates in world cant have 2 meals a day to survive.

If we look at the cause of the problem, one can argue that it is due to the shortage of the food grains in the world. If one even subscribe to this view, then it is itself the testimony to the height of the avarice of the human beings. Substituting cash crops for the Food grains may fill the pockets of few, but it cuts a deep hole in the skin of the mankind.

Apart from that, the granaries of leading countries of the world are overflowing with the food grains. But the selfish trade policies, arm-twisting WTO for their own monetary benefits has ensured that the food is not reaching to the needy. We recently saw a prime minister of the most powerful country of the world accusing the 3rd world countries for creating the shortage of the Food Grains.

The over ambitious zeal of few nations to become self proclaimed messiahs of humanity and justice also aggravated the situation to a large extent. The so called war of freedom in Afghanistan and Iraq deteriorated the already pain stricken life style of the citizens out there. In a Country where majority of money is spent on arm fighting, where would the money to feed infants come from. The Recent ousting of LTTE in Sri lanka would be a meaningless victory if government fails to address the humanitarian crisis over there.

We live in a world of hypocrites and lunatics. When some body sitting in a AC Room with all the facilities in the world do grave mistakes, the whole world feels the tremor of the earthquake. Banks come out with the package of billions and trillions of dollars to rescue the companies whose bosses do not really deserve to be rescued on the other hand, 67 of every 1000 children die in Zimbabwe, For many children in sudan the camps are the houses. They do not what is pizza and what is a Barista. Getting two meals a day is equivalent to enjoying a dinner at Hilton for them.

Not a tear is shed for them, not any expert write about them, not a Organisation runs conferences for them. They are left to die in the oblivion.

So what should be done. Hmm, Finding the ways to tackle this problem is not rocket Science. First and foremost, the apathy of the world towards these under privileged nations should be turned into empathy. Proper Fund allocation should be there. Organisation Like WTO and FAO should take the responsibility to provide the food grain to every mouth particularly the infants. The wastage should be reduced , a grain saved is a grain produced in the current world scenario.

The Growth and development of the world should be inclusive in nature , we can’t leave the under privileged behind and then profess to achieve the growth and development of the world. Countries Like US and other developed countries should not compromise on the fund allocations and should not shun their duties of helping the world, as the world can live without the nuclear rockets but can’t live without the bread and butter. We have to again redefine our priorities, we have to do a collective effort to save the future of the world dying untimely death, otherwise the history will never forgive us.

If we talk about the Indian context, the current government rides on the populist agenda of the inclusive growth, but it seems to be hell bent on issues like nuclear deal or economic sector reforms, where still on an average 1 person die everyday at vidarbha due to poverty, and poverty gives the way to malnutrition. Situations are still grave at kandhamal, where the hygiene conditions at refugee camps are aggravating the ill effects of malnutrition. It is the time , we should act and act decisively. There is no shortage of food grains in our food reservoirs and it’s better to distribute it to the needy rather than having rodents feast on it. For this we would need a robust and efficient public distribution system, proper identification of the needy and malnourished segments of the society and above all the undying will to make a difference.

So, Finally the grey clouds cordoned of the blue playfield, Light flashed in the sky, and after much of the wait the rain gods have shown some mercy. Today we had the first rainfall of the season, and its still raining outside when i am writing this ( surprisingly !! no power cut !!!) , and believe me its beautiful.

There are very few things that are awaited as eagerly as rain ( a missed call by someone special in night may top the list ), because it has a vibrancy attached to it. After the treachorous summers, where every thing is so still in the dull afternoons, the drops from sky brings energy with them. Trees start to retain its greenery, frogs almost found their voice again and people no matter who they are, kid or professioal or octagenrarians every body likes to feel the drops on their hand, it’s so irrestible. ( i once again go out and feel the drops hitting my hand )

when i was a bit young, for some strange reasons i hate rains. It makes our playground unable to play cricket, the water logging in the streets make it very hard to walk there . You cant escape the dirt in the rainy season. But slowly slowly i started to appreciate the learning i had from it. First, there would be certain factors in life on which you would not have any control and the second is that its OK to get dirty while enjoying ( Thanks to ‘ Daag Acche Hain’ campaign by surf excel, even moms do not complain when we get dirty ).

The smell of moist sand when enters the nostrils, again bring life to our lot emotions. This is aptly called the season of Love. I bet that there must be more love songs on rain than on any other theme. You can enjoy it with your heartthrob and if you are missing them, then cry in the rain , because then nobody notice you doing that !!

Apart from that, the culinary aspects of rain could not be ignored. The “chais and Pakodas ” while watching the downpour, can confuse whether you are still a mortal , or enjoying in the heaven. The cool air combined with the hot tea relaxes all the tension in the world , which we some how make the habit of carrying.

So, enjoy with your Loved ones, talk to them, think about ur best moments associated with rain. Try to unload the baggage of tension you are carrying with youself, and garb hold of some chai and pakoda. I had ordered some for me..

and waiting for one helluva time…..

If you are someone who had spent their chidhood when there were no mobile phones, no DTH services with over hundreds of channel , then you must be aware of this opening sentence of the largly popular serial of the era gone by. At that time , it seems to be the most irritating part of mahabharta but today i am appreciating the strength of “samay” , i had never seen anybody strong than it.

September 2007, Mumbai roads were jammed with the people like honey bees on a bee hive. Reason !! indian team was returning after the world cup truimph which the most ardent of the follower had not envisaged in his dream. A wicket keeper with Flaunting locks was the cynosure of all the eyes. The way in which he speaked has been dubbed as the new definition of confidence, the way he marshalled his resources were compared to the best captains of all the times.

Every Captain has their honeymoon period, in case of MS Dhoni, it lasted quite long. Defating australia in australia, having series wins in india, defeating New zealand after 40 years, everything he touch was turning to gold. And yes do not forget the IPL, where he was the most earning Indian Player …..

But then again this powerful ” samay” spoiled the party. The Hairs are now relatively very short, the beared has turned grey, the way in which he speaks seems arrogance, the way in which manuevers his resource make him look a club side captain. The same persons who jammed the road to welcome him back, are now burning his effigy and demanding his head for the defeat.

So what happened to midas touch !! or it was never there. Giving last over to joginder sharma was a fluke !! taking a young team to australia was a gamble !! so did sending the young ravindra jadeja in a crucial match ahead of yuvraj !!..

So , its the “samay” which can suddenly make you look like a king and in the next moment a person good for nothing. For Dhoni he should learn lessons from history and pray for the almighty “samay” to show some mercy and for the people of india, many grave problems are in front of them , and burning effigies is not going to help them.
